Small Episode

I had another episode of Sleep Paralysis this morning(Sat, 5/26).  It was a small one, and I wasn't sure if it was worth mentioning, but I figured I should in order to help keep track of how often I get this.
After I had gone to sleep for the night, I woke back up in the middle of the night, and of course, like usual, I couldn't move a muscle.  I knew it wasn't time to wake up yet, so I was tempted to just let myself lie there until my mind went back to sleep and it all worked its way out when my alarm went of in a few more hours.  But then I remembered that my brething gets extremely shallow when I am like this, and there would be a possibility it could stop altogether.  So, I fought, and tugged, and snapped myself awake so I could try again.  Of course I was scared of going back to sleep for the fear it would just happen again, but I feel that way after every time it happens.  When I looked at the clock after snapping out of it, it was 4:30 in the morning.  2 hours before my alarm was going to go off.

  1. Hahaha, I commented, long winded...don't see it now. Look, get a sleep study done, most universities offer to do them for free by medical students studying to be Sleep Specialists or pulmonologists. Many people with sleep paralysis have other sleep disorders, like "Sleep Apnea" (where one stops breathing during sleep) and Narcolepsy. I made my episodes stop by taking up exercise daily. Getting good rest. Going to bed and getting up at the same time every day. Skipping naps (as most of my episodes occurred during afternoon naps) I wasn't being abducted by aliens, "The Hag" or evil spirits weren't trying to take me, food wasn't the cause. There are several levels to sleep and when we skip one or two and go straight to waking, we get "stuck"...hallucinations happen during this time, like the footsteps, pressure on the bed or on our bodies, visual ones as well if our eyes are opened. It's very frightening. I'd keep documenting the episodes, Jef...until you are "done with them".
